Cong. Michael John "Jack" Duavit



Michael John “Jack” R. Duavit , is the current representative of the First District of Rizal and is affiliated with the National People’s Coalition. He was also the elected Representative of said district for the 12th, 13th, and 14th Congress. He is the son of the late Congressman Gilberto M. Duavit and Vilma D. Duavit. Born on February 20, 1970, he is the youngest in a brood of four. He married Margaret Abary who bore three(3) children namely Maria Sophia Isabel, Maria Karina Dominique, and Joaquin Nicolas.

He is a graduate of Xavier School in his primary education and Ateneo De Manila University in his secondary education. He earned his Bachelor of Science and Commerce major in Marketing Management at De La Salle University, and held a Recording Arts Engineering Degree at Full Sail Center for the Recording Arts Management Information Technology Program.

Among the positions held by him are: Chairman, President and CEO of MRD Holdings & Investments, Inc.; Chairman and Managing Director of Puresound Trading, Inc.; Chairman of the Board of Directors of the following: Pilapila Land Resources Inc., Thermo-Rigid Polymers, Inc., Psitrad Inc., Evergreen Multimedia foundation, Inc.; President/Trustee of Guronasyon Foundation, Inc.; Research/Creative Consultant at PDR Property Holdings, Inc. (Real Estate); Technical Consultant at Film Experts, Inc./GMA Films (TV Commercials, Full-length feature films); Member, Board of Regents of University of Rizal Systems; Member, Board of Directors of Antipolo Institute of Technology;

He likewise sat as director for different private institutions such as GMA Network, Inc., Vigil Inc., Citynet Television, Inc., Rosmar Holdings, Inc. GMA New Media, Inc. (Internet), Social Investments Fund at Group Management & Development, Inc., to name a few, and was also a trustee of GMA Foundation, Inc.

In 2002, he was voted as one of the Top 20 New Congressmen and was also awarded the youngest delegate to represent a major political party (NPC) for the First Philippine Political Parties Conference.

He is currently the Vice-Chairman of the Commision on Appropriations and member of the following committees: Ways and Means, Trade and Industry, Basic Education, Economic Affairs, Banks and Financial Intermediaries, Information and Communications Technology, Public Works and Highways and Southern Tagalog Development.
